In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus told his disciples, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” This “teaching to observe all that Christ commanded” is the process of discipleship. We accomplish this through the ministry of the Word on Sundays, in our small groups throughout the month, and as we gather together informally as members of Christ’s body exhorting and encouraging one another to live under the Lordship of Christ as given to us in Scripture. To help facilitate this culture of discipleship, we have two primary small group contexts in which we can help one another grow in our ability to understand God’s Word, apply it, and help one another live it out. We hope that these two formalized group settings will encourage you to initiate connection with the other members involved so that your discipleship of one another can grow outside of these groups as well.

Discipleship Groups:

The aim of discipleship groups is to gather in a more intimate setting that fosters mutual growth. We do this by engaging one another in safe and loving relationship through prayer, study, conversation, and inviting accountability into our everyday lives. These groups will often consist of check-ins, prayer, and discussion of application from a prior sermon. Participation in these groups is reserved for covenant members at Mission Fellowship. If you are a current member who is interested in joining a discipleship group, please contact your community group leader for more information.

Bible Study:

As disciples of Jesus Christ, it is important for us to know how to study and interpret His Word. It is the means by which the Lord exercises His lordship in our lives, by the power of His Spirit. While many of us read our Bibles, we are often unsure how to study and interpret its original meaning in order to apply it. Our desire is to equip the men and women of mission to do just that. As we study together, we will become more equipped to interpret the Word of God and find ourselves engaging in true discipleship and growing in our love and knowledge of the Lord and His Word. These groups are usually broken into men’s or women’s studies, but it is not necessary to be a member of the church to participate. We simply ask that you are consistent in your participation. If you would like to step into one of these groups, signups for current Bible studies are below.
