In this scripture, Paul describes the division between Jews and Gentiles - law versus grace. Hoping in the law requires legal perfection; legalism keeps us in condemnation. Hoping in grace requires relational wholeness. The Bible paints a picture of a relationship between our will and God’s Spirit that results in the transformation of our hearts. Because of God's love, we can choose to be friends of God and let our lives, our words, our actions flow from our relationship with Jesus and our imitation of Him.
