Burkina Faso — Pastor Marcel Yanogo

In the 1980s, faithful missionaries Jan and Jerry Swanson began ministering in the country recently renamed from The Republic of Upper Volta to Burkina Faso.  Over the next 30 years, the Spirit of God moved in amazing ways and the ministry that began so many years earlier was now based out of The Fellowship At Bend.  Their primary mission in Burkina is to partner with Pastor Marcel Yanogo from the city of Ougadougou to train and equip pastors from the remote “Bush” areas of Burkina to teach the Bible exegetically. For more information on Burkina Faso you can visit the Joshua Project website.

As Mission Fellowship was launching, the opportunity was presented to partner with The Fellowship At Bend, Ekklesia in Eugene, Oregon, and Pastor Marcel to equip pastors, provide resources for seminary education, and provide roofing materials and labor for  the many churches in the “Bush” that are not able to afford a roof.  Once a year, the three churches send over a teaching team that conducts a week-long pastors training conference as well as distribute funds for the roofing of churches.

We are so thankful to be part of a unified brotherhood of churches and pastors at home and abroad to bring the gospel of Jesus to the Burkinabe people.  Please join us in praying for TFAB, Ekklesia, Pastor Marcel and his wife Pauline, and the pastors of Burkina.  If you would like to donate specifically to this mission, you can indicate “Burkina Faso” on your donation on our giving page

We are also blessed to be working with Compassion International to sponsor children in Burkina Faso that attend the school located at Pastor Marcel’s church as well as other churches throughout the country.  If you would like more information on this avenue of disciple making, you can visit Compassion International.
